The Parma family of Italy came to stanbul from the town of Chiavari, not far from Genoa. After making a name in the importation of tea, beverages, food products and canned goods, the Parma family opened a butter and cheese shop in Bomonti in 1820, and then established Turkeys first pasta factory. After a fire in 1850 the family relocated to Pera. Parma Apartman was designed in 1933 by architect Jan Tulbentiyan on Hammalba street in the Kemer Hatun neighborhood, on plot 15 of city block #424, on the same foundation of the first house commissioned by the Parma great-grandparents.During the 30 years following the Parma Familys departure from stanbul, the units in their building were rented to various individuals and companies. The building started to fall into a state of disrepair at this time, until one day, when history enthusiast Mehmet Pir saw the building and decided to restore it. Location Armada Pera is centrally located in Beyoglu district.Only 300 metres to the lively Istiklal Avenue, Armada Istanbul Pera Hotel is a 10-minute walk to Taksim Metro Station, which allows easy access to many sites of the city.
