The neighbourhood Cihangir is named after the Ottoman Prince Cihangir son of Suleyman the Magnificent who died in Aleppo at the age of 22 and it is one of the oldest settlements in Istanbul. Cihangir Mosque was built by the Architect Sinan for the son of Suleyman the Magnificent, a dervish monastery and elementary school were built around the Mosque to create a neighbourhood around the mosque. Famous for its cafes and ancient buildings, Cihangir is the neighborhood of foreigners living in Istanbul and artists.
