St Regis Grand Hotel is one the most luxurious hotels in Rome, an aristocratic Palace in the heart of the capital, overlooking the historic "Piazza Esedra". This majestic property is very close to Via Veneto and just a few minutes from the main railway station and the popular shopping street Via Nazionale. The lobby area is very spacious and decorated to a high standard. It is a large room with a high ceiling with chandeliers and precious antiques that give a very elegant touch. The floor is parquet with rugs and fresh floral arrangements are available every day, in the middle of the hall, on top of a stylish marble table.Upon reopening in mid-December 1999, after an extensive restoration and renovation, the St. Regis Grand Rome reclaimed its status as the finest hotel in Rome and one of the best in the world. This honor has been re-emphasized by recently being named to Conde Nast Traveler's 2002 Gold List. As a focal point of Rome's diplomatic and political life, St Regis is proud to host many national and international dignitaries, heads of state, business executives, and widely known celebrities. * Vivendo:Voted Rome’s best restaurant by Zagat 2002 and 2003, Vivendo serves creative Mediterranean cuisine, such as foie gras and Bass Carpaccio with Balsamic Vinegar. The decor is equally imaginative: grey-and-purple silk hangings, silver armchairs, and custom-made candleholders. The wine cellar includes 520 wines, 40 of which are specially provided for the hotel. Vivendo is open daily for lunch and dinner. The private dining room, La Champagnerie, seats 14.* Le Grand Bar:Tucked away on one side of the gilded Grand Hall, Le Grand Bar serves sophisticated cocktails including the César Ritz (gin and Sambuca in a coffee-frosted glass). The room includes a black-marble bar and red-velvet banquettes. Guests can take afternoon tea in the bar or in the Grand Hall, which is appointed with silk-upholstered Louis XV furniture and the original 1894 cut-glass chandelier. A jazz band performs Wednesday nights. * The Caroli Health Club on the fifth floor offers a staffed, mirrored fitness center and a wellness center with men’s and women’s saunas and two treatment rooms with massage services. The hotel has one of the city’s oldest operating elevators—a grand wrought-iron affair—used to reach the health club. Wireless Internet access is available in public areas and the staffed business center includes two computers, printers, fax machines, and high-speed Internet access. * This hotel has 161 ornately decorated guestrooms. Each is named after a different Roman site, the subject of a large fresco on the wall behind the beds. King beds are canopied. Rooms are appointed with Murano chandeliers, antique furniture and prints, and a red, cream, and gold color scheme. High ceilings are embellished with gilt cornices. Italian-marble bathrooms feature Hermés toiletries, gilt antique mirrors, separate showers and bathtubs, bidets, bathrobes, phones, and make-up mirrors. St Regis Grand Hotel is within walking distance of the Spanish Steps, the Trevi Fountain and Via Veneto.
